The Alliance For Family Education, Care and Treatment (AFFECT)

Brooklyn, New York

The Alliance For Family Education, Care and Treatment (AFFECT) formally the Brooklyn Pediatric AIDS Network (BPAN) is a consortium of closely-linked Brooklyn institutions serving the most precarious Brooklyn families, women, men children, infants adolescents and their families infected with and affected by HIV and AIDS in nine communities of North Central Brooklyn. Our primary goals are to provide comprehensive and coordinated primary medical, dental care, mental health assessments and support services to families infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS in north central Brooklyn and to connect families infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS who are not currently connected to medical care and services in north central Brooklyn through a high intensity case findings process that builds a relationship of trust first and then provides prevention education and facilitated linkage to medical care and support services.
